The Best Kept Secret in the City I think that Cleveland has an under-appreciated “acoustic music” scene. From baroque programming to avantgarde noise compositions, there are so many diverse and thoughtful concerts every month that more people should check out.

Favorite Albums of 2020 Limbo – Amine, Alfredo – Freddie Gibbs, It is what it is – Thundercat, Shrines – Armand Hammer, Dinner Party – Terrance Martin/Robert Glasper/9th Wonder, Shore – Fleet Foxes, Detroit 2 – Big Sean

Biggest Inspiration Donald Glover is a huge inspiration to me. I adore that he explores all of his talents and has each career/role play apart into his whole professional passion.

Tell us about how this project got started?

Professionally, I work as an audio engineer and producer. I regularly collaborate with incredible artists of all genres, with a ton of raw audio saved from sessions and shows. I started Elephant Ornament just having fun slicing and reorienting audio clips into new kaleidoscopic sound worlds. I am able to reflect on all the music and sounds that have impacted me and create something new from my musical ether.

Are you working on anything new / specific at the moment?

I have two projects in the works. One is a “remix” album of local artists, with a focus on the hip hop community. The other a minimalist album based in feeling and phase.

Any local Artists you admire that you’ve never met?

Uno Lady. I think I’ve worked with her as an audio engineer but not as an artist. I have insane respect for her music and the way she finds perfect venues and outlets for that music.

Anyone you’d like to Collaborate with?

That’s a great question, and there are so many artists and organizations that I want to collaborate with. I want to break into the art-music and art installation worlds. I’m imagining Elephant Ornament being an abstract electronic composition hub that can exist in the concert hall, club, and gallery.

Anyone you’ve collaborated with recently?

The fantastically talented WesWill. He’s taking part in the remix album I’m planning and sent over the vocals for one of his tracks. Its already straight fire, with one of the most aggressive flows and metering I’ve made.

What’s the biggest thing that your band could use help with? (Promotion, Recording, Merch, Booking, Touring, etc)

The biggest missing piece for Elephant Ornament is my promotion, and getting my music out to people I know would love it.

What areas could Cleveland or Akron Improve on?

I think that NEO artists should think about concerts and events in a new way. The experience and logistics of an event can change everything about its enjoyment, marketability, and reach. I think a wider variety of options to see an act/artist would increase the overall support of the scene.

What’s the next move?

The next move is performing more, and focusing on the space for people to enjoy my music.
